Building a Brighter Future in Uganda

Would you like to help a community meet the needs of their young people?

In Zumbo  primary school in north-west Uganda there are 688 pupils with only 11 teachers and limited facilities. In July 2012, a small team from Jersey will spend four weeks there helping to build additional classrooms and a toilet block. While the project has a building focus, it is about much more than that and we are not just seeking to recruit professional builders. It is an opportunity to get to know the community and forge long-lasting links and friendships. After the building work, we want to help teachers to access in-service training through a distance-learning link we have set up at Edge Hill University in Lancashire.

A variety of events and activities will be arranged to help raise funds towards sending the team to complete this project. watch this space to see how you can get involved!
